Velvet Revolver Struggling To Find A Singer

Velvet Revolver star Duff McKagan has revealed he and his bandmates are struggling to find a permanent replacement for fired frontman Scott Weiland, who was kicked out of the group in April following a series of public spats. McKagan said former Spacehog singer Royston Langdon came close, but “there was just something that was missing, and it wasn’t anything that he could have done differently.” Weiland said they have listened to “a ton of singers,” but that is part of the problem. He says, “Once you get up over, say, 40 singers, it’s hard to listen… and distinguish them all. If you sit down and listen to 10 guys, you’re not giving the tenth guy the same listen you are the first guy. So we’ve gotta figure out how to go about this.”

Coldplay Considering Retirement

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin says he’s 31-years-old and doesn’t think bands should go past 33. He wants to go out with a bang, though. He says they’re trying to pack in as much as possible, and until the end of next year they will “just go for it in every sense.” Martin says, “We’ve still got most of our hair, we can still fit into our musical trousers and we’ve got to make the most of that.”

Velvet Revolver Dropped

RCA Records has reportedly dropped Velvet Revolver, the band featuring former Guns N’ Roses members Slash, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum. Velvet Revolver released two full-length albums through RCA/Sony BMG, “Contraband” and “Libertad.” VR has been looking for a new frontman since booting Scott Weiland in April. Rumored candidates have included ex-Skid Row singer Sebastian Bach, former MTV VJ Steve Isaacs and ex-Spacehog vocalist Royston Langdon, who apparently had several successful rehearsals with the band. Weiland has reunited with Stone Temple Pilots. Weiland recently said his split with Velvet Revolver came about because “there were too many big egos in the band, and I’m including myself.”
