The Edge w/Mike and Sal 12/29 Recap

What a great way to end 2010. Mike and Sal recapped their favorite stories from the past twelve months. Kurt (was hammered)and Steve from Unrecognized Geniuses called in and fought with one another, then shared their love for one another in a bizarre convo that went down. Some crazy thoughts on Black History and Kwanzaa were shared, as well as bitching about this past weekend’s blizzard. Also, Mike and Sal answered some funny questions from their Formspring account.

Thundersnowicane 2010

No, that’s not a typo.. that’s a nice mashup of how this storm has been referred to.. as either ‘Thundersnow’ (due to lightning/thunder being seen) or ‘Snowicane’ (since it was basically a hurricane with snow). About 18 inches of snow in most places, some places having about two feet worth of it, depending on where you live.

I woke up this morning around 7:30 to call out from work (two downed trees and an unplowed street were the obstacle)… woke up again at 10 to hear one end of my street has down power lines and the other end has the down trees.

So it’s about 11 as I write this, and I’ve decided to not go outside until 2 or 3ish to clean up.. I’m going to let the wind blow around everything for a while. BUT! I took a few pictures, figured I would share them with you folks.. and I’ll steal a couple from Sal as well. (All pictures have been downsized to fit this page.. the original sizes are up on our Facebook pages)

First, mine… (Northern Westchester County, NY) – We got about a foot and a half of the stuff here… and in the pictures, I’ve had my driveway plowed. I live in private property off of the street itself, so we have our own plow and shovelling crews (yay me).



Now, Sal… (Brick, NJ) – According to his wife, they got about two feet.. and not one plow has come thru their neighborhood yet. Which, quite honestly is some bullshit.. that’s why they need to move up to where I am…

All I have to say is.. fuck a nigga named Snow… (not that rapper, he was ight) …I hope summer comes very soon!

BREAKING: Singer Teena Marie dead at 54

Just coming into the EDGE FM news room… it’s been announced by multiple sources that award-winning R&B performer Teena Marie passed away in her sleep last night at the age of 54. Not much is currently being released by the press, but as of right now it is a current trending topic on Twitter. Here’s her headline blurb courtesy of Wikipedia -

Teena Marie (March 5, 1956 – December 26th, 2010) was an American Grammy Award-nominated singer–songwriter–producer. Marie, nicknamed Lady Tee, (sometimes spelled Lady T), is a protegée of late funk legend Rick James, and is notable as one of the few successful white performers of R&B. She plays rhythm guitar, keyboards and congas. She also has written, produced, sung and arranged virtually all of her songs since her 1980 release Irons in the Fire. She has said this is her favorite album. She has a daughter named Alia Rose who, as of 2009, sings under the name Rose Le Beau. Marie died Sunday, December, 26, 2010, as announced by her manager, Mike Gardner.

Merry Christmas from EDGE FM!

Christmas 2010 is here (well, ALMOST anyway.. one more hour as of this writing)! This past week on The EDGE w/Mike & Sal, they mentioned trying to get Deshon to sing a Christmas song for them. The sad part is, Deshon wanted to wait until Christmas Eve to sing a song for the show. Well, it’s Christmas Eve and Deshon lived up to his word! He sung a rendition of ‘Silent Night’ and other assorted tunes.

[UPDATED] Two Missing Girls from NJ have now been found!

If you follow our FACEBOOK or TWITTER, you might have noticed us posting some information up about some missing girls from New Jersey. Well, it’s about time we put this up on the website here at edgefm.net. This isn’t going to be a lengthy post, we just want to put the details and pictures out there to try and have these girls FOUND. We support the communities of our listeners and do our best to serve those communities in our own ways. So let’s get going with the details…

UPDATE: [12/21/10 6pm eastern] BOTH girls have been found! All we know right now is that the two girls were found in Connecticut. We don’t know any of the other details as to how they got there or what happened, but once we recieve the information, we will post it RIGHT HERE!

The new sound of RadioMaxMusic.com – 1/1/11

So for those who don’t know, I (Mike) am also a host at radiomaxmusic.com where I have a music show called ‘The Bounce’, in which I play today’s hit music as well as dance/hip-hop from the 80′s/90′s.

As of a few weeks ago, I was signed to the station for an additional year of broadcasting. The Bounce is safe to continue into 2011!

I just wanted to make it known that on the 1st of the new year, RadioMaxMusic will be undergoing a change. What change, you ask? Well, the sound of the station will be changing. I can’t exactly SAY what the new sound will be, but it is an adventurous change that most radio stations are too timid to do. I will also say that while the new sound isn’t exactly my cup of tea, it is a change I fully support and will do what I can to help out with.

So I advise you all to tune into RadioMax in the new year and see if the new sound fits your taste. If it does or doesn’t, we thank you for checking out RadioMaxMusic either way and supporting the programming.

Despite the new sound of the station, The Bounce will stay locked into it’s three-hour slot at 9pm eastern and be surrounded by other great RadioMax programming. So for those who have come to love and enjoy The Bounce (which is a lot of you, otherwise it wouldn’t be a Top 5 show over there), thanks so much for your support and I will keep it going strong in 2011!
