A new Internet talk radio station was born in June of 2007, Army Radio. Army Radio was a place where fans of ‘The Dog House’ with JV and Elvis went to broadcast weekly shows. Army Radio was the name that was picked because The Dog House fans where known as The Dog House Army. After the firing of JV and Elvis from a New York Station, a few die hard fans were asked if they would be interested in doing weekly shows to help keep some of the fan base together.
One of the people approached to head a show was Koof. With no broadcasting knowledge or experience Koof was reluctant to accept the challenge, but with hopes of entertaining as many people as he could and a possible future in broadcasting, Koof accepted the task. Koof had a few choices in mind for co-hosts, but went with Dougie. Koof and Dougie were friends for a few years at this point and Koof thought of Dougie as one of the funniest people he had ever met. Koof turned on Dougie to The Dog House about a year earlier and The Dog House had given Dougie the urge to become a radio host and this was his chance. The show had one more spot to fill and Koof turned to his long time friend Danny T, whom was known for his ‘braininess’.
The show’s name, ‘The Koof and Dougie Show’, was chosen from a list of other names that included, ‘Deez Nutz’ and ‘The Filler Show’. ‘The Koof and Dougie Show’ was the first show to air on Army Radio on June 18th, 2007. With the addition of Danny T, who’s on air personality was as prominent as Koof or Dougie’s; the shows name was changed to “The Filler Show”. At first, a series of 1 hour prerecorded show that needed editing turned into a 1-hour show that never needed editing. The show would then go on to be 1 hour 30 minute show that eventually became a live two hours weekly show. Pranks, bits, games, talking about funny topics and taking calls, were all an intricate part of the weekly show. The show progressed rapidly and very well, to the point of multiple broadcasts each week.
Dougie was known to be funny and raunchy, while occasionally bringing up some topics. Danny T didn’t have a desire to be a professional broadcaster as Koof and Dougie did, but he was a good talker and had some very funny moments and was usually ganged up on for heavy ribbing by Koof and Dougie. Koof would piece every moment of every show together, control all of the technical responsibilities, introducing topics and engage in the chatter.
On February 16 of 2009, Shit went down. Mind ya own biznass bitch!
The show continued after a few week break with the new addition of RJ. RJ was out of the Bay in California, while Koof still controlled the show from NJ. RJ had a quick wit and could talk for days, he also had strong interview skills. Raul Jesus was originally apart of The Edge radio program on EdgeFM, they tossed his ass to the curb as soon as they heard Koof was in the market for a new partner. He was basically pawned off on Koof. RJ was a meat beating Mexican by day and shock jock at night. After work one day he happen to run into Wild 94.9′s Hammerin’ Hank, the show was lucky enough to land an interview with him because RJ was willing to give Hank a handy and a ride home. RJ and Koof made a good team, although the team wouldn’t last more than a few weeks. RJ lost a family member and he wasn’t right for a few week. Koof was in need of a mental break for the summer so the break lasted until the end of August.
Koof ran into old partner and friend Doug a couple of times which lead to mending a friendship. They quickly began to work on plans to return to the air together, just the two of them, how it was meant to be.
This leads us to the next chapter of The Filler Show.
